Title: Settings for remote PAM to assure User session continuation for bot execution (for Virtual Machine and Headless PC)


Q.  What can I do to make sure PAM and Bots run after the Remote Desktop session disconnect?

A. When RDP session is ended, Windows automatically locks the PC, or in other words, the Windows User is logged out. This will result in "Black Screen" and PAM and your Bots will fail to execute. There is a settings in Windows to prevent this problem from happening.

Follow steps below.


  1. Search for "netplwiz".

2. Look for a check box right next to "User must enter a user name and password to use this computer".
If there is no check box, go to step 2.                                        If there is check box, go to step 9.

3. Search for "regedit" in Window search box.

4. You will come to "Registry Edditor".

5. Input "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\PasswordLess\Device" like shown below

6. When you see "DevicePasswordLessBuildVersion", double click.

7. Change the "Value Data" to "0", and press OK.

8. Search for "netplwiz" at window search box.

9. Uncheck "User must enter a user name and password to use this computer" then press Apply.

10. At "Automatically sign in" window. Input your Password and press OK.

11. Press Ok on "User Accounts".Image Removed
